Bio of Dr Bernard Lim, General Surgeon
Dr Bernard Lim is a General Surgeon, specialising in General and Colorectal Surgery. His passion is in maintaining his patient’s colorectal health and treating their colorectal problems.
Dr Lim graduated from the National University of Singapore in 2000, and obtained his Masters of Medicine in 2004. In 2007, Dr Lim was accredited as a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, United Kingdom and Academy of Medicine in Singapore. Dr Lim has also received specialized training on the latest Da Vinci Robotic Surgical System Platform, during which he received accreditation as a Console Surgeon. In addition, Dr Lim is also a Life member of the prestigious Endoscopic, Laparoscopic Surgeons of Asia, (ELSA).
Dr Lim has extensive experience performing colon and rectal surgeries in both laparoscopic and open techniques. His area of subspecialty interest is in Minimally Invasive Colorectal Surgery, which includes conventional laparoscopic, single-port and robotic surgery. In addition, Dr Lim also treats and manages piles and hemorrhoids during pregnancy.
Prior to joining the private practice, Dr Lim was Consultant Surgeon at Singapore General Hospital and a visiting consultant to the Department of Surgical Oncology at the National Cancer Center. An awardee of the prestigious SingHealth Human Manpower Development Plan fellowship, Dr Lim trained at Queen Mary Hospital in advanced minimally invasive surgery. Since then, he has conducted several workshops and courses in laparoscopic colorectal surgery.
Passionate about teaching his knowledge to colorectal specialists and trainees, Dr Lim is an active lecturer in Advanced Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgery in the South East Asia region. He was also Adjunct Assistant Professor at the DUKE-NUS Graduate Medical School, as well as Clinical Lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine, National University of Singapore.
